MathWiz

MathWiz is a prototype top-down 2D RPG which teaches basic math skills like multiplication.  

Explore the village, talk to its inhabitants, and see if you can beat the two dungeons to earn the title of MathWiz!

This project took me just about a year of on-and-off work to complete. While I've lost interest in this game specifically I still learned a lot and built a lot of useful systems. I definitely want to revisit the idea of a 2D-rpg math trainer in the future.

Charging spells
By pressing  'f' you can switch to spell casting mode. You will be presented with a multiplication problem to solve. If you correctly solve the problem you get a mana, which is then spent to cast spells when attacking enemies. However be careful not to get it wrong, or else the spell will backfire and you'll take damage!

You don't need to target the spells yourself, my idea for the combat is that the player would focus exclusively on solving math problems while trying to dodge enemy attacks.
